6th Grade Kick Off

August 7, 2020

Can you believe it?!?! Your student is about to be a 6th Grader!!! Whether this is your first student going into 6th Grade or your tenth student heading into 6th Grade, this year’s experience will be like no other!!! We can’t wait to meet all of the 6th graders and have been working very hard to ensure they do not miss out on any of the “normal” experiences!

The 6th Grade Team wants all parents/guardians to feel comfortable with what has been planned for the 6th Grade Kick off, so please take a look at the details below.

To begin, all students will be starting the year on the Hybrid Schedule and we wanted the 6th graders to have a taste of what this looks like so we have modeled the 6th Grade Kick Off after the Hybrid Schedule. This means that we have set up two sessions for August 7.

Students with the last name A-K will be attending the first session from 7:00-9:40.

Students with the last name L-Z will be attending the second session from 10:05-12:45.

Next, all students will participate in each of the four activities while having the chance to meet each of their 6th grade teachers.

  • Small Group School Tour

    • Students will take a walking tour of the important places in the building.

  • “Circle Time” with Counselors and Mr. Kascak

    • Students will have time to share their excitement and hesitations about the transition into 6th-grade with their cohort.

    • Students will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding all aspects of middle school.

  • Music Selection

    • Each music teacher will be speaking about and highlighting what it means to be in choir, band, or orchestra.

    • Students will then choose their music class for the year and an updated schedule will be sent home at the end of the session.

  • Team Building

    • Students will be participating in a team building activity in order to build relationships within their cohort

Finally, we ask that you follow each of the following schedules (outlined below). Please pay close attention to drop-off and pick-up times. And please remember students (and parents) must arrive with their own personal mask.

The 6th Grade Team can not wait to meet your student(s)!
