Frontier Academy Accessibility Plan

Frontier Academy Accessibility Plan

At Frontier Academy, we are deeply committed to ensuring that all students, staff, and community members have equal access to our services, programs, and activities. Our ongoing accessibility efforts aim to eliminate barriers and provide an inclusive environment where everyone has access to information and services, particularly through digital platforms. Below, we outline the key measures we are taking to improve accessibility in accordance with Colorado HB21-1110.

Digital Technology Accessibility Statement

Frontier Academy is committed to promoting inclusion, equity, and accessibility in all aspects of our programs, services, and activities. This includes ensuring that our digital services are accessible to the widest audience possible, regardless of technology or ability. In compliance with Colorado HB21-1110 and applicable federal laws such as the ADA, we are aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA criteria to ensure equitable access for individuals with disabilities.

Our plan prioritizes continuous improvement of all digital touchpoints, making accommodations as necessary for those who need them. Some of the steps include:

Ensuring that all digital content is screen-reader friendly.

Providing alt-text for images and captions for videos.

Making forms, PDFs, and other digital resources accessible.

We recognize that some documents, particularly in Adobe PDF format, may require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader. We recommend downloading the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website if needed. For Google-based documents (Docs, Forms, Sheets, Slides), modern browsers

and screen readers provide compatibility, and further information about Google’s accessibility can be found on their Google Accessibility website.

Website Compliance Plan

Frontier Academy works with Edlio to maintain and develop our website. Edlio ensures that all websites are built with ADA compliance in mind, with ongoing updates to meet new legal requirements. However, compliance also depends on the content uploaded by our staff, and users can generate accessibility issues if required information (like alt text for images) is not provided.

We will periodically consult with a third-party tool to check for ADA compliance.

To resolve more complex issues requiring coding changes, our tech team is equipped to make adjustments based on WCAG Guidelines, with a standard first response time of 2-3 business days. We test our websites using a variety of screen readers, ensuring compatibility across different devices and software options.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 Partnership

We also collaborate with Greeley-Evans School District 6 to ensure all digital content remains accessible. Through their new partnership with Finalsite, a vendor that provides accessibility alerts and features, we continuously monitor and remediate any inaccessible content. The district also uses AudioEye to scan the website for accessibility feedback and provides transcripts for any PDFs posted to the site.

Staff Training and Support

To maintain compliance and ensure all staff understand their role in promoting accessibility, Frontier Academy implements annual accessibility training.  All staff members responsible for creating content must complete yearly training on digital accessibility and HB21-1110 requirements.

Application and Vendor Compliance

In line with HB21-1110, Frontier Academy ensures that any new digital applications used within the school are reviewed for accessibility compliance. All current and future vendors are required to complete an HB21-1110 Accessibility Form before contracts are approved. If a vendor cannot comply, we follow appropriate procedures to request accommodations or assess whether an undue burden or fundamental alteration is present.

New Documents and Digital Resource Compliance

To further ensure compliance with HB21-1110:

All new documents are assessed using the Adobe Accessibility Checker to ensure they meet accessibility standards.

Ongoing Support and Oversight

Frontier Academy has established an Accessibility Team consisting of members from the Information Technology, Communications, and Administration departments to oversee compliance and provide ongoing support. This team is also responsible for conducting a full web and technology accessibility audit, with a focus on remediation strategies, implementation support, and continued monitoring.
