ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) TESTING





These are College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) sponsored tests, which many colleges give advanced standing and/or credit depending on a student's AP score. These exams are administered in May. For more information please visit the AP website. Look at the AP Credit Policy to see which Colleges and Universities give credit for passing the AP Exams.
Frontier Academy offers the following Advanced Placement courses: Biology, Chemistry, Comparative Politics, English Language, English Literature, Studio Art, United States Government and Politics, United States History and World History. These exams cost $83 and students must take these exams in order to earn a weighted G.P.A. for their class.

**AP Coordinators will order late-testing exams for students who would like to take exams that are scheduled for the same slot.**
AMERICAN COLLEGE TESTING (ACT) PROGRAM
The ACT is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
- The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
- The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.
- All Frontier Academy Juniors will take this test free of charge on April 23, 2008.

PLAN
The PLAN® program helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years. This "Pre-ACT" test is a powerful predictor of success on the ACT and all Frontier Academy sophomores will take this on October 23, 2007. PSAT
The PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills.

This is an optional test which will be offered to Frontier Academy sophomore and junior students on Saturday October 20, 2007. You must register for this test in the Guidance Office by October 4, 2007. The registration fee for this test is $15.00. For more information about the PSAT please visit their website.

SAT
Nearly every college in America accepts the SAT or Subject Tests as a part of its admissions process. The SAT Reasoning Test is a measure of the critical thinking skills you'll need for academic success in college. The SAT assesses how well you analyze and solve problems—skills you learned in school that you'll need in college. The SAT includes a Critical Reading, Math, and Writing section, with a specific number of questions related to content. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors.
